Time-Clip No. 15

1918 – 1924

Inflation after the end of World War One was reflected in the turnover recorded in the financial reports of this time:

1918/1919 .................................................. 5.600.000 Mark
1920/1921 ................................................ 43.900.000 Mark
1921/1922 .............................................. 133.000.000 Mark
1923/1924 ................................................... 2.460.000 RM

Faced with huge price increases, the level of turnover achieved in 1918/1919 wasn't even half of that of the pre-war years.

A note on inflation in the 1921/1922 financial report reads:
“Between October 1921 and September 1922 the costs of raw materials have increased twenty-fold while those of wages have gone up fifteen-fold.”
